Ese lunes al mediodía el Simulacro Nacional corría sin contratiempos efectuando el ejercicio planeado como parte de la planeación para estar preparados en conmemoración del 19 de septiembre de 1985, cuando, a las 13:06 horas, nuevamente sonó la alerta sísmica en el centro del país para anunciar –37 años después– un nuevo sismo el mismo 19 de septiembre.
Por tercera ocasión, un 19 de septiembre, en diversos puntos del país se sintió un sismo, ahora de magnitud 7.7, cuyo epicentro se localizó al sur de Coalcomán, en Michoacán.

Es importante que entendamos que se trata de una coincidencia, un evento que sin duda es singular, pero quiere decir que tiene cierta periodicidad, porque México es un país sísmicamente activo donde todos los días tiembla y muchos de esos sismos son imperceptibles.
No existe una fecha para determinar cuándo temblará y los sismos no tienen alguna relación con fenómenos atmosféricos, sino que es un evento inherente al interior de la Tierra.
